Syllabus for Shorthand

  1. History of Shorthand with special reference to Punjabi shorthand. Methods of shorthand. Definition of phonographic system. Origin of strokes with special reference to the combination of strokes. General idea of becoming stenographer. Position of strokes. Alternative strokes. Kinds of strokes. Joining of strokes. Dictation. Transcription practical work.
  2. Vowels-origin-their places. Writing of trokes according to the places of the vowels. Definition of grammalogues, their origin and practive thereof alongwith the practice of strokes. Transcription practical work.
  3. Definition of Dipthongs. Their origin signs and places. Practice of Suitable words given in the text books and exercises. Dictation. Transcription practical work.
  4. Test of previous lessons. Use of Tippi and Bindi. Alternative forms of Ha and Ha Ra Practice of Suitable words grammalogues in para 2 above and new grammalogues alongwith exercises. Dictation of new words. Transcription. Practical Work.

Syllabus for Typewriting

  1. History of the invention of the typewriter. Its various commponents. Their utility. Its importance.
  2. Manupulating and fingering exercises. Division of figures; position of fingers. Light touch and its advantage. Exercises without shift key of the 3rd, 2nd and 4th rows.
  3. Manupulating of finger exercises by using the shift keys. Fingering exercises of the Ist row.
  4. One line sentence exercises both with and without shift key and joint exercises.
  5. Typing of common words. Special hand and finger exercises.
  6. Accuracy exercises with control speed. There should be one passage of about 150 words and the speed should be 15 words per minutes. should be typed 50 times.
  7. Typing of unseen passages of 15 minutes duration at one time.
  8. Use of Carbon paper for taking out more than one copy with the aid of carbon papers.
  9. Tests and Revisions
  10. Exercises of simple letters with subject heading along margin adjustments in single and double spacing with bottom and top adjustment alongwith paragraphy heading and envelop addressing.
  11. Exercises of 20 minutes duration one passage.
  12. Process of cutting stencil paper for duplicating purposes alongwith the rectification of errors on stencil paper.
  13. Typing of manuscripts, official, correspondence.
  14. Typing of manuscripts, letters in full form at the speed of 25 W.P.M.
  15. Typing of unseen passages for 20 minutes duration at 30 W.P.M.
  16. Typing of official letters and noting for 10 minutes duration at 35 words per minute
  17. Accuracy exercises speed 40 words per minute.
  18. Accuracy exercises speed 45 Words P.M.
